May 11, 2017 (Albany) – NYS PTA is pleased that parents, families and educators will have three new opportunities to comment on policies that affect children.

“The parent and teacher voice is critical to these proposals and we are pleased that the process has been more collaborative than in the past,” said Gracemarie Rozea, NYS PTA President. “We look forward to continued discussions, revisions and collaboration on both standards and the draft ESSA plan as stakeholders work with education officials to see ALL children are adequately supported.”

  1. The State Education Department (SED) has released to the second revised draft of the English Language Arts and Math standards, called the “Next Generation Learning Standards”:
  2. SED has also just released the first draft of New York’s state plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):
