Hi, my name is Lisa Mount and I am the Rural Specialist at NYS PTA. I am a proud mother of boys and a few that are borrowed, so pray for me because the only way I have girls is with my dogs and chickens. I live on my small hobby farm (that keeps growing each year) in the woods in Central NY. If you need me, I am usually in the chicken coop, working on some kind of project, or in the gardens on a nice day. I am working as a house painter and also do small construction projects. I love to see how things can become new by just a little bit of work. I love to find ways to make life fun and laugh a lot because I am a huge goofball.
I am so proud to be a part of the PTA in my local units, region and state. I know as a team, we can make a difference and advocate for all the children who need us to be their voices. We all have so many different gifts and talents, and if we can compile them all together, we make a well functioning body of amazing men and women that can accomplish so much. PTA Your Way may be different for each of us, but our goal will always be the same, the children. This Bible verse helps me remember that right now is my time to be a part of a great thing being a member of PTA; “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” A PTA friend made a great comment this last week that the mothers in PTA help step in for each and every kid, especially when some have lost or don’t have a mother. I want to be a good example for my children and other people’s children, by living a good healthy life, being a good listener, enjoying the great outdoors, being thankful for the blessings I have, and for having the choice to love one another.
If we can keep our goals and thoughts positive, we can help these wonderful children see such good in life and to have their own dreams, goals and thoughts come to life. I hope that if anyone today is feeling a bit overwhelmed, burdened, or down that you remember we are here on this wonderful world to live together and help one another. I can tell you the friends you make through PTA will make your life better by knowing they have your back. I hope and pray to see you all soon.
