NYS PTA Announces Winner of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award
June 28, 2024 (Albany) – NYS PTA is honored to announce the winner of the NYS PTA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award.
This award serves as a means to honor NYS PTA units, councils or regions that demonstrate a leadership commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through recruitment, training and retention efforts including multicultural, gender-diverse and special needs appropriate programming or events, inclusive outreach activities, or other initiatives.

This year’s Unit/Council winner is
Ardsley PTSA

Ardsley PTSA in Westchester-East Putnam Region, has dedicated itself to the values of diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism. The unit has worked to promote an environment that is free from bias and discrimination and has worked on advancing diversity and inclusion in its school and community. Ardsley launched a BOOM (Books Or Other Media) Club where one can learn and discuss race, socioeconomics and neurodiversity. Additionally, they co-hosted several events with local partners including Juneteenth, Greenburgh Pride, Hispanic Heritage Month, Children’s Kindness workshop, Ardsley’s inaugural Ramadan, and Eid celebrations. Through its multi-pronged approach, the Ardsley PTSA DEI Committee has developed strong, meaningful and lasting relationships with a number of stakeholders in the community.

“We are honored and humbled to receive an award of this caliber from the New York State PTA. We recognize that so many wonderful PTAs share this vision of creating a world that is more equitable and inclusive for students of all backgrounds and abilities. Accomplishing this requires building a strong network among community members, faculty, leadership and, of course, our students. We are so grateful to have such widespread support in working toward these goals for our whole school community. The work may never be fully complete, but we are proud to be a part of it” offered Ardsley PTSA.

“Congratulations to Ardsley PTSA for winning this significant and prestigious award, and for the work they do each day to support Every Child with One Voice,” offered NYS PTA President, Amany Messieha Dgheim. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are principles that are essential to achieving NYS PTA’s mission to make every child’s potential a reality, and I am thrilled that we are able to honor our hardworking volunteers for their tireless dedication to promoting these fundamental values.”
