May 30, 2017 (Albany) – NYS PTA is a proud member of New Yorkers for Students’ Educational Rights and will be attending court proceedings today in support of students and parents statewide, in the pursuit of a sound basic education for all children.

“While the Campaign for Fiscal Equity decision promised equity and adequacy in education funding, this promise has not yet been realized in many of our schools and for many of our students,” offered Gracemarie Rozea, NYS PTA President.

“NYS PTA is honored to support this litigation as we work collectively to ensure ALL children receive a high quality education that meets global demands,” Kyle Belokopitsky, NYS PTA Executive Director added. “Today’s oral arguments before the Court of Appeals will show that the state constitutional requirements for providing ALL students the opportunity for a sound basic education has not been met.”

“We are hopeful for a positive outcome for our students, and thank lead attorney Michael Rebell for his tireless work on this critical issue on behalf of our children,” added President Rozea.

NYS PTA is committed to making every child’s potential a reality and looks forward to working with educational partners and New York State officials to see that every child’s dream is achieved.
