December 21, 2021 (Albany) –The NYS Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc. (NYS PTA) is honored to represent the families of our 2.6 million school children and our nearly 250,000 members.  It is our mission to Shine a Light on Every Child with One Voice.

“We applaud the Board of Regents and Commissioner Rosa for making this difficult decision,” offered Dana Platin, NYS PTA President. “As a classroom school-related professional, daily I see the impact COVID is having on our students and educators. This is the right decision for student, educator, and staff safety, and the right decision to help with continued educational inequities related to COVID in our schools.”

“NYS PTA continues to support students, parents, families, and educators and this is a welcomed and necessary decision in our current pandemic situation,” added Kyle Belokopitsky, NYS PTA Executive Director. “In conversations with SED, we are pleased that emergency regulations will be implemented in January that affect graduation requirements, so that no student will be harmed by this cancellation. Similar regulations were adopted in 2020 and 2021 to great success.”
