September 2025 (Albany) – We are excited to share that NYS PTA and Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health (KIWH) are collaborating to support parents and families with the information they need to make informed health care decisions and prioritize their wellbeing.

“Our alliance with the New York State PTA allows us to meet parents where they are — in their schools, communities, and homes — with trusted, evidence-based health information,” said Stacey E. Rosen, MD, Executive Director of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health and Senior Vice President of Women’s Health at Northwell Health and Volunteer President of the American Heart Association. “When women and caregivers are supported to make their health a priority, the positive impact ripples through their families and the communities they help shape.”

Women often serve as the “chief medical officers” of their family, responsible for an estimated 80% of healthcare decisions. And, a woman’s health can have a significant impact on the health of the entire family. By empowering women to take control of their own health, we can build stronger, healthier families and communities.

The Katz Institute for Women’s Health is Northwell’s dedication to women’s unique health care needs – and NYS PTA remains committed to supporting our 2.6 million school children, their parents, families and educators.

NYS PTA and Katz Institute for Women’s Health are now teaming up to spread awareness and empower families in our communities.

“NYS PTA is thrilled to continue to expand our programs and services for families and children, and work with The Katz Institute for Women’s Health to Empower Women, Build Resilient Families, and Measure our Mission for Every Child,” offered NYS PTA President Patricia Frazier. “Our members, many of which are women, often find themselves putting their health aside for the sake and support of their families. We are excited to support them in this new and unique way, and know this initiative will truly make a difference.”

So, what does this initiative look like? Educational sessions, live chats at events, webinars, live zooms, educational materials, infographics, social media content, sustained and continued direct information to PTA members.  A focus on women’s preventive health, coverage of critical topics like nutrition, breast cancer, menopause, heart health, reproductive health, teen/college-aged health and much more.
