March 21, 2017 (Albany) –Today, the NYS Legislature named Susan Mittler, retired Ithaca teacher to the soon to be vacant Board of Regents seat formerly held by Regent James Tallon. A retired teacher, Ms. Mittler is also a former member of the NYS PTA Board of Managers, serving as a Vice President, as well as a Substance Abuse Chair and Environment Chair.
“This is an exciting appointment for New York public education with the appointment of Susan to the Board of Regents,” NYS PTA President Gracemarie Rozea shared. “She brings a wealth of in-service teaching experience in addition to real hands-on practice with parents and families across our state.”
Kyle Belokopitsky, NYS PTA Executive Director added, “NYS PTA fully supports Susan’s appointment, and is excited that one of our own holds this prestigious position. We look forward to working with Susan and the Board of Regents to support each and every child, and their families, in New York.”
