Investing in the Next Generation of Educators: Transforming Preparation through Apprenticeships
In response to the urgent need to recruit, develop and retain a responsive, well-prepared educator workforce for students in communities across the state, EDHUBNY* provides technical assistance to agencies that serve children of all ages. From childcare through preschool to school age students, EDHUBNY works with partners to develop the workforce that’s needed.
EDHUBNY also operates as an intermediary under ANEW (Association for a New Educator Workforce) to bring Registered Apprenticeship programs to educational communities. They offer the technical support, resources and networking needed to meet local educator workforce needs.
Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) allow those seeking a career in education, as Apprentices, to earn a living wage, possible tuition reimbursement and other supportive services as they pursue an initial certification in the field. This allows Apprentices to apply the related instruction in real-time throughout the extended on-the-job experience alongside a professional educator. These one or two year Apprenticeship programs are immersive and proven to increase retention, grow recruitment by reducing barriers and providing support, and save education employers time and money as they develop their workforce.
