October 10, 2024 (Albany) – NYS PTA and Fidelis Care are honored to announce the winners of the inaugural Every Child Reads Student Award.

Students were challenged to create a poster, video, or essay to express their feelings on why literacy is critical to health and wellness, and these awards serve as a means to honor students who demonstrate this theme.

Through this contest, NYS PTA received fifty-five entries from students of all grade levels. Of these fifty-five entries, twelve student entries were awarded prizes based on their submission of a video, poster, or essay on the topic of “Why is reading important for your health & wellness?”.

“We are excited to expand our ongoing successful partnership with Fidelis Care during this coming school year with a new focus on literacy and more pathways to support children, families, and education stakeholders,” offered Dr. Amany Messieha Dgheim, NYS PTA President. “Physical and mental health and wellness, as well as literacy, are essential for our students and high priorities of our Association.”

“We know that literacy is crucial to student success and health and wellness – and are excited to highlight student work and ideas on this important topic,” offered Kyle Belokopitsky, NYS PTA Executive Director. “Make sure to review all of the student entries, as our students are the most amazing creators and thinkers. Their future is bright, and NYS PTA and Fidelis Care will be here to continue to support them!”
