Communication: 

  • Advocating-What is advocating? Most are already advocating for their students.
  • Making sure everyone knows the Unit’s goals will help people understand the difference PTA makes.
  • NYS PTA events like PARP
  • Brochures/Flyers- PTA Mission, What PTA does for you, How to Support/Membership, Meetings- add a template 
  • Why PTA- facts to share
  • Did you Know-monthly updates 
  • Members News-emails, social media

Engagement: 

  • Units- As a PTA, you are not limited to just families from the school.
  • Building relationships with the local community creates a sense of belonging and involvement.
  • Teacher engagement- P “T” A, teacher involvement 
  • Location- Is the meeting place- welcoming to all
    • Changing location or times to give all a chance to join, offer Zoom participation
  • Events- names and themes- that welcome ALL

Officer Basics: 

  • Explaining to Officers- PTA is more than fundraising
  • PTA beyond the Unit 
  • Units sharing ideals and successes 
  • President chats- monthly/bi-monthly meetings
  • Emails- emails they will want to open/read and share them with their members
