About us:
Story Pirates is a nationally respected education and media organization founded in 2003 to celebrate the words and ideas of young people. It all started in one public school in Harlem, New York City, when a group of friends put on a live musical improv show featuring stories written by kids. Since then Story Pirates have visited thousands of schools all across the country and have also gone on to produce one of the top Kids & Family Podcasts in the world, the 2020 iHeart Media and Webby award-winning Story Pirates Podcast, which has been downloaded over 30 million times. They’ve also released a critically acclaimed middle-grade book series with Penguin Random House and three albums, full of original songs all based on ideas from kids around the world.
Story Pirates aim is to nurture and inspire the big thinkers, dreamers and creative problem solvers of tomorrow and to change kids lives, one story at a time.
School Programs:
The Story Pirates have been working with schools since 2004, bringing our creative writing workshops and one-of-a-kind assemblies to students and teachers all across the country.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been working at the speed of light to completely change the way we work with schools without our usual in-person visits. We have been thinking deeply about honoring our mission to celebrate the words and ideas of young people in these uncertain times and we have been exploring various ways to support schools like yours as we navigate the uncharted territory of this school year together.
We are pleased to introduce our new virtual learning platform, Creator Club, our new home for Story Pirates digital content and virtual programs. With Creator Club, kids can reconnect with their own creativity and imagination, and experience a new kind of learning that’s not just educational and engaging – but really, really fun.
