IMPORTANT Information for YOUR UNIT Regarding National PTA Dues Increase

NYS PTA Leaders,

Thank you for all you do each day for the children, educators, and families in your school and community! We write with important information.

In June 2024, delegates at the National PTA Convention voted to raise National PTA dues by $1.00, from $2.25 to $3.25 effective July 1, 2025. NYS PTA dues will remain the same at $1.75. Combined, National PTA + NYS PTA dues will equal $5.00 beginning July 1, 2025.

Your NYS PTA Unit will have 3 choices when deciding how this affects your unit and members after July 1, 2025:

1. Keep your current dues the same; if your dues are more than $5, you will retain $1.00 less per member for your local PTA

2. Increase your overall dues by $1.00 (which is the amount National PTA is raising their dues)

3. Increase your overall dues by another amount different than $1.00

For those of you with total dues of $4.00 or $4.50, your dues must be raised to at least $5.00.

NYS PTA leaders will continue communicating about this in the coming months. Know that we have discussed next steps with our Registered State Parliamentarian, and it is our goal to make this process as simple as possible for you.

FOR THIS ONE TIME ONLY, as it relates to this dues increase, we are allowing either your current Bylaws Committee OR your current Executive Committee (elected officers) to work on this change in your bylaws. The proposed dues change (either 1, 2 or 3 from above) will be presented to the members, with 30 days’ notice of the meeting. At the meeting, a quorum must be established, and the proposed dues change must be approved by a 2/3 vote of the members present and voting. This process for dues change will NOT affect your current Bylaws Expiration Date.

NOTE: If your Bylaws are expired, or will expire on April 1 or July 1, we recommend you continue the normal process to have them renewed: https://nyspta.org/bylawsprocedures/ and select choice #4 on the form below.

PLEASE PLAN TO COMPLETE THIS FORM ABOVE NO LATER THAN MAY 15, 2025.

We would like all units to complete this form, even if you are not making a dues amount change or if you are following the normal bylaws renewal process. You do NOT have to submit this bylaws change into the NYS PTA Bylaws Wizard. NYS PTA staff and volunteer leaders will make this change for you in our systems.
