March 14, 2025 (Albany) – NYS PTA is excited to announce its recent partnership with Canopy, an all-in-one, easy to use app that empowers parents and families to protect children across multiple devices – while reducing mental health risks associated with excessive online exposure.

“Digital and online safety for youth remains of highest priority for NYS PTA, and this partnership will bring new technology tools to NYS families to better empower them to support their children,” offered NYS PTA Executive Director Kyle Belokopitsky. “We applaud Canopy for working to make our children’s online spaces safer, and as a parent of a high school student – I know personally that this type of technology is needed for our kids. Parents and families also need to have meaningful two-way discussions with our children about digital safety and safe online behaviors, and NYS PTA and Canopy are here to help.”

Canopy’s patented AI for Good technology, developed over the past 15 years, gives it the unique ability to filter out explicit content in real-time. Beyond simply blocking known inappropriate sites, Canopy’s AI instantly detects and filters out harmful content from everyday sites and social media platforms that youth use. The app also offers screen-time management and location tracking.

Yaron Litwin, Canopy’s CMO and digital parenting expert, praised the new partnership. “Canopy protects kids around the country, whether at school or at home. Many of our member families live in New York, and we are very proud to demonstrate to them our partnership with the PTA, an invaluable organization that touches the lives of so many local parents and their kids. We hope to earn the trust that the PTA has put in us by serving as a source of information and education for New Yorkers on children’s online safety, especially as recent developments like AI-related dangers and legislative efforts to enact phone bans are front-and-center in parents’ minds.”
